Duopharma commerced its business as a pharmaceutical trading and marketing company in 1979 under the name of uopharma (M) Sdn Bhd (DMSB), which was founded by two experienced pharmacists, Chia Ting Poh@Cheah Ting Poh and Ang Bee Lian. The company imported and marketed medicines and pharmaceutical products to doctors and hospitals in Malaysia during the early years of operation.

Over the twenty plus years of history, Duopharma has grown from a humble beginning as a trading company to a key player in the pharmaceutical manufacturing industry in Malaysia. Today, Duopharma Group is in the business of manufacturing, distributing, importing and exporting a wide range of pharmaceutical products.

Duopharma achieved its first milestone in manufacturing in 1986 when it produced its first prouduct, Mefenamic Acid (also known as Pontacid Capsule). Presently, Duopharma manufactures more than 300 approved items for consumptions in Malaysia and for export markets, Since its venture into manufacturing, Duopharma has managed to carve a niche in the small volume injectables items as well as become a cost leader in generic medicines.

In 1995, upgraded its manufacturing facilities and moved to 89,000 sq ft factory in Klang, Malaysia. The factory is GMP-certified. GMP stands for Good Manufacturing Practice, the certification process of which is tedious and more stringent than that of attaining the ISO status. Presently, a second state of art factory with 90,000 sq ft area has been built based on original and advanced production techniques to meet the regulatory requirements of the Pharmaceutical Inspection Co-orperation Scheme, European Commission and National Pharmaceutical Control Bureau. The second factory is to cater for production of small volume injectables, biotech injectables, metered dose inhales and continous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis (CAPD) solution.

Some of the significant milestones of Duopharma are as follows:

Jan 1996 Haemodialysis liquid production facilities approved and commerced operations.
Feb 1996 Received approval for small volume injectables facilities and commenced production of eye drops and antibiotic powders.
July 1996 Large volume infusion facilities approved.
Jan 1997 Commenced production of large volume infusion.
Jan 2000 Began construction of new state of art factory with total built-up of 90,000 sq ft to cater for new requirement in the production of small volume injectables.
18 Jul 2002 Listed on 2nd Board Market of Bursa Malaysia
Sep 2002 The 90,000 sq ft new factory completed.
3 Nov 2003 3 Nov 2003 Transferred to Main Board Market of Bursa Malaysia
