Our Milestones & Achievements
MOPI’s milestones and achievements reflect the collective efforts of our members and our constructive engagement with Government ministries, regulatory authorities, agencies, and industry partners. These outcomes would not have been possible without the continued cooperation, dialogue, and support of our stakeholders, whose collaboration has been essential in advancing the local pharmaceutical manufacturing industry and shared national healthcare objectives.
1998
Published the Malaysian Pharmaceutical Industry Directory
2002
Became a founding member of the ASEAN Pharmaceutical Club (APC)
2011
Pharmaceutical industry included under Malaysia’s National Key Economic Areas (NKEA)
2013
Introduced the MOPI Code of Ethics (COE)
2015
Launched the first MOPI Strategic Plan (2015 – 2020
2017
Joined the International Generic and Biosimilar Medicines Association (IGBA) as an Associate Member
2018
Established the Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Occupational Framework with Department of Skills Development (DSD)
2020
Launched the second MOPI Strategic Plan (2020 – 2025)
2021
Recognised by the Government as an essential and strategic industry for the country
2022
Hosted the first IGBA Conference in South-East Asia
2023
Co-led the national Pharmaceutical Productivity Nexus (PPN), a public–private platform under the Malaysia Productivity Corporation (MPC) to strengthen Malaysia’s pharmaceutical manufacturing ecosystem.
2024
Launched the Pharma Industry Awards (PIA), Malaysia’s first dedicated awards ceremony for the sector
2025
Partnered in the inaugural CPhI South East Asia in Kuala Lumpur
