Established on 6 March 1981, the Malaysian Organisation of Pharmaceutical Industries (MOPI) is the national association representing Malaysia’s local pharmaceutical manufacturing industry. From an original membership of 8 companies, MOPI has grown to 60 companies in 2026, representing manufacturers of all sizes as well as companies involved across the pharmaceutical supply chain.

Our Role in Advancing the Industry
Policy, Regulatory and Stakeholder Engagement
Serves as a voice for the local pharmaceutical manufacturing industry, by engaging with Government Ministries and Agencies, Regulators, and relevant stakeholders to drive the development and growth of the industry and to support the national healthcare and economic objectives.
Industry Representation and Coordination
Represent and coordinate industry perspectives on matters affecting local pharmaceutical manufacturing, including regulatory frameworks, patent issues, productivity and other operational requirements.
Promotion of Local Pharmaceutical Manufacturing
Support the development and sustainability of Malaysia’s local pharmaceutical manufacturing industry, including the adoption of generics and biosimilars to strengthen medicine supply resilience.
Industry Intelligence and Communications
Provide members with timely updates, insights, and communications on key regulatory, policy, and industry developments, including relevant publications and sectoral information
Ethics and Compliance
Promote high standards of quality, ethical conduct, and compliance, including adherence to MOPI Code of Ethics and MOPI Competition Policy.
Capability and Workforce Development
Support industry capability-building through GMP trainings and regulatory workshops aligned with national workforce and competency development initiatives.
Industry Collaboration and Partnerships
Foster collaboration among members and with local and international partners by facilitating information exchange and knowledge-sharing.
Affiliations with APC and IGBA
ASEAN Pharmaceutical Club (APC)
MOPI is a founding member of APC, which provides a regional platform for ASEAN pharmaceutical industry associations to engage, coordinate positions, and share perspectives on common regulatory and industry issues within ASEAN.
International Generic and Biosimilar Medicines Association (IGBA)
MOPI is an Associate Member of IGBA, linking Malaysia’s local pharmaceutical industry to the global generics and biosimilars industry community and international policy dialogue.
